[요즘 청소년들은 이렇답니다] Exhibition focuses on Korean teens

Puberty is one of the times we hate the most while experiencing it but miss the most once it is gone.

Ilmin Museum of Art gathered some photographers to record the precious moments of today's Korean adolescents and published a book titled "The Image of Youth."

"We consider that all juvenile delinquency is the result of and also the root of all adult problems. The book holds more than 700 photos which attempt to visualize the lives of today's youth," said exhibition curator Kim Ryang-mi.

There are nine Korean photographers who participated in the making of the 600-page book. They are Kang Jae-gu, Ko Jung-nam, Kwon Woo-yol, Park Jin-young, Yang Jae-kwang, Oh Suk-kuhn, Lee Ji-yeon, Choi Eun-sik and Choi Jong-gyu.

Each photographer focused on different characteristics of Korean teenagers.

Visitors can also check out some of the photos at the museum. The museum is currently displaying selected works at the exhibition under the same title as the book.

Among the photographers exhibited, Lee Ji-yeon shows the vivid and intimate moments of teenagers. Currently a high school teacher, she was able to capture her students dozing off in the classrooms lying down on the instant beds they made by pulling some chairs together, as well as the nervous looks on her students' faces on their graduation day.

Park Jin-young placed his attention on teenagers' fandom culture. Young girls doing costume play look like they popped out of a manga. In another photo, thousands of teenagers crowd together at a concert to see their favorite star.

Kang Jae-gu did not miss the trivial things in teenagers' lives which are easily neglected as too common, like school uniform shops, scribbles on the school walls and boys on motorbikes headed for their English institutes.

Kang knew that those familiar scenes would quickly excite the now teenagers' nostalgia just as middle-aged adults treasure the memories of their schooldays in the 1970s.

"This book will be an archive for teenagers of today. It might be considered a boring job but it is essential," said Kang.

말 타보고 왔어요♥ [승마 취재 후기]

경기도 파주에 있는 유일레저타운에 가서 승마체험을 하고 왔습니다.

요즘 승마운동효과도 증명됐다고 하고,

정부에서 좀 정책적으로 추진하려는 것 같기도 하고 해서 말이죠. ㅎㅎ

 

이 승마장은 꽃보다 남자에도 나왔던 그곳ㅋㄷ

 

뭔가 멋지게 어울리는 옷도 입고 말도 씽씽 타고 싶었으나,

말이라고는 제주도 등등에서 한 10분 체험 해본 적 밖에 없는 저에겐 무리였습니다ㅠ

 

게다가 제 발 사이즈도 워낙 귀한 사이즈라-_- 맞는 승마부츠도 없더라구요.

그래서 뭐 신기한 말 가죽으로 된 걸로 종아리를 감싸고 탔습니다 ㅋ

 

 

완전 초보지만, 한 20분 강의 들으니까 그래도 혼자서 방향조절도 하면서 교관님 도움없이 좀 갈 수 있더라구요.

저는 터벅터벅 걷는 수준이었는데도 다음 날 아침에 허벅지가 당겨서 일어났다는 +_+

 

 

같이 간 우리 인턴기자는 말을 1년동안 타본 실력자라서;

나름 씽씽 잘달렸습니다. ㅋㅋ

뭔가 의상도 저보다는 프로페셔널해 보이죠?!ㅋㅋ

 

저 뒤에 쪼꼬맣게 교관님 옆에서 겁먹고 있는 제가 보이네요 히히

 

승마가 다이어트 효과는 최고라는 +_+

뱃살도 빠지고, 하체도 예뻐진다나요;

물론 너무 비싸다는 흠이 있지만 ㅠ-ㅠ

꼭 한 번 제대로 해보고 싶은 스포츠였어요 ㅋ

며칠 째 머리가 너무 아파요 ㅠ-ㅠ

머리가 엄청 무겁고 커다란 느낌.

고개를 돌리면 뇌는 한 박자 더 천천히 따라 돌아오고, 디이이잉 하면서 -_-

흔들면 뇌가 흔들리는 듯한 기분;;ㅋ

 

아는 언니한테 얘기했더니 자기도 3일 연속 머리아파서 아스피린 먹었대요.

또 자기 친구도 3일연속 두통을 호소하고 있다는!

결국...요즘은 두통이 유행이라는 이상한 결론에 도달 ㅋㅋㅋ

 

싱가폴 다녀와서도 플루 한 번 안걸리고,

A형 간염 주사를 빵!빵! 두 대나 맞고서도 미열도 안났었는데,

엊그저께 마신 와인 두잔에 아직도 머리가 아프다니ㅠ-ㅠ

[페리에주에를 보면 생각나는 것?] Champagne inspired art

In step with its launch in Korea, the two-centuries old champagne house Perrier-Jouet is hosting an original exhibition featuring works by top Korean artists of diverse fields.

At the exhibition "Perpetual Emotions by Perrier-Jouet," 15 artists showcase their champagne-inspired works.

Participating artists are hanbok designer Lee Young-hee, fashion designer Juun.J, shoe designer Lee Bo-hyun, jewelry designer Kim Sung-hee, makeup artist Lee Kyung-min, photographer Kim Yong-ho, installation artist Kim Chi-ho, fabric artist Kan Ho-seob, lightning designer Park Jin-woo, florist Kim Jong-wook, painter Lee Eun-joo, book designer Jung Eun-kyung, media artist Seo Hyo-jung, visual artist Pak Ji-sook and pianist Seo Hye-gyung.

Many of the artists used anemone, the champagne brand's symbol, in their works. Lee Young-hee embroidered the flower on hanbok and Lee Bo-hyun attached the flowers made of Swarovsky and satin on high heels.

Seeing champagne as synonymous with weddings, Jung Eun-kyung made a book decorated with anemones on folding screens, which are typically used in Korean traditional weddings.

The exhibition runs through June 30 at the Kring Gallery in Daechi-dong, southern Seoul. Admission is free. For more information, call (02) 557-8898.

[우리가 무슨 짓을 했는지 똑똑히 보여주는 사진들]Clear pictures of damage we have done

Have you heard about Tuvalu, the beautiful coral island nation in the Pacific Ocean?

Although it is one of the few countries not contributing to climate change, it is the one bearing the brunt. Its sea levels are continuously rising and the sea is expected to engulf the whole island within several years, leaving its 10,000 residents homeless.

They may not all be as seriously as in Tuvalu, but some serious symptoms of climate change may be spotted throughout the world.

To alert the public to the situation, the British Embassy, the Korean Cultural Centre U.K. and Daelim Contemporary Art are co-hosting the photo exhibition "Earth Alert: A Photographic Response to Climate Change."

"This exhibition couldn't be more timely. The year 2009 is pivotal for climate change. While we look at the challenge and complexity of financial events, we must also keep focused on the aim of a broad and inclusive agreement on climate change in Copenhagen in December 2009," British Ambassador Martin Uden told the press last week.

"It is essential that we come to an ambitious agreement there to prevent dangerous climate change by agreeing to national reductions in our emissions."

About 100 photos taken by 13 British and Korean photographers, including Chris De Bode and Joo Myung-duck, are on display at the exhibition.

Each photographer captured the impact of the world's climate change through their own perspective.

Among the photographers, Gerd Ludwig focuses on the damage caused to the Salton Sea in California. The British photographer captured the dreadful sight of nearly 8 million fish killed on a single hot day in August 1999. This massive fish death was due to the nutrients from agricultural runoffs that depleted the sea's oxygen.

As a veteran who has been photographing environmental issues for almost two decades, Ludwig skillfully reminds the viewers of the mankind's ability to threat its own living planet.

Robin Hammond, another British-based photographer, draws attention to the devastated inhabitants of Tuvalu.

Having no choice, some Tuvaluans are getting ready to abandon their homes and relocate to New Zealand. Hammond's capturing of children's grim faces will make viewers feel guilty.

Korean photographers Lee Sang-youp and Choi Young-jin showcase some scenes which Koreans may easily connected with.

Lee has documented the yellow dust sandstorms which affect much of East Asia during spring time. China's intensified desertification and the increase in coal powered industrial production is believed to be making the storms longer and more harmful.

The sight of the thick yellow sky above the Mao Zedong sculpture and Chinese five-star-red flag in Kashgar, China is enough to give the viewers a stuffy feeling.

Choi shows the slow destruction of the Saemangeum, an estuarine tidal flat on the coast of the Yellow Sea in Korea. A bird lies dead in his photo. Numerous plants, fish and birds are known to have perished there, not being able to adjust to the changed environment.

 해리포터 영화도 제일 첫 두 편만 본 터라 충격이 더 했나봐요;; ㅋㅋ

내 기억속에서는 아직도 머리가 한껏 부풀어오른

똑똑한 깍쟁이 꼬마아가씨였는데ㅠ-ㅠ

 

 

원래도 옷 잘입기로 유명하다던데; 샤넬 모델도 하고 버버리 모델도하고 ㅋㅋ

못 본 새 정말 사랑스럽게 자란 듯 해요♥

 

 

클럽에서 술 마시는 사진 보고 더 깜짝 놀랐다는 ㅋㅋㅋ

벌써 술 마셔도 되는 나이가 되었구나 ^-^;ㅋㅋ

[싱가폴 여행기] 센토사해변과 뱀과 바비인형♥

 

이 곳은 센토사 섬에 있는 해변.ㅋ

해변이 세 개가 있는데, 이름은 기억이 안나네요.

날씨가 쪼끔 꿀꿀하긴 했지만, 그래도 나름 좋았어요 ^.^

 

무슨 가장 몸매 좋은 사람을 뽑는 대회가 열려서

막 여기저기서 수영복입은 여성분들이 사진찍었던 거만 빼면은요-_-ㅋㅋ

 

 

모래사장에 요런 작품도 있고 ㅋㅋ

 

 

센토사에서 발견한 흥미로운 이벤트 ㅋㅋ

뭔지 아시겠죠?!ㅋㅋ 저 5달러의 의미는...ㅋㅋ

 

 

네, 뱀을 목에 걸었습니다 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

ㅋㅋㅋ개인적으로 여행중 제일 자랑스러웠던 순간이긴 하지만,

큼지막한 사진을 올리기엔 뭔가 부끄러운 관계로 조그맣게ㅋㅋ

 

뱀은..매끈매끈 한데요, 생각보다 무지 무겁더라구요.ㅋㅋ목이 툭 처지는 기분?!ㅋ

주변 사람들이 더럽다 징그럽다 독이 있을거다 그러면서 마구 구박을 하셨지만,

그냥...저는 안 무섭던데요 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ그냥 신기했을 뿐♥ㅋㅋㅋ

 

아저씨가 모자를 씌워주시더니 피리를 막 부셔서 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

저 와중에도 너무너무 웃겼습니다 ㅋㅋ

뱀이 저에게 매달린 채로 꿈틀꿐틀 춤을 췄어요 ㅋㅋㅋ

 

 

마지막날 오차드로드에서 신나게 쇼핑을 하고 구경을 하면서 발견한

또 하나의 신기한 이벤트 ㅋㅋ

 

한 층 전체에서 바비 기획전을 하더라구요 ㅋㅋ

요런 차를 발견! ㅋ

저 안에 바비 인형이 정말 산처럼 -_- 쌓여있는데;

몇 개가 타고 있을지 맞추면 저 차를 준대요 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

[싱가폴 여행기]완젼 "자연"적인 동물원과 나이트사파리☆

사실 동물들 보는 것 좋아해서,

올해만해도 동물원에 몇 번갔었어요 ㅋ 에버랜드랑 서울랜드랑 ㅋ

(이 얘기하면 꼭 '니가 몇살인데 동물원이야' 이런 표정으로들 보시곤 하시지만요 ㅋㅋ)

 

하지만 가서 즐겁게 구경하다보면 꼭 한번씩은

그 아스팔트바닥에, 쇠로 된 감옥에 갇힌 듯한 동물들이 한없이 불쌍해지더라구요.

 

싱가폴 동물원도 따지고보면 동물들을 가둬놓은 건 마찬가지지만

음...그래도 뭔가 자연속에 있는 느낌.

갇혀있지만 갇혀있다고 동물들이 느끼지 않을 것만 같은 느낌.

 

 

이렇게...그냥 조금 축소된 자연에 사는 느낌?!ㅋ

 

그냥...자연 속에 같이 있는 느낌이예요.

위험한 동물들은 물론 격리되어있지만, 티나지 않게(?) 격리되어있고...

위험하지 않은 동물들은 그냥 막 같이 돌아다녀요. ㅋ

머리위로 원숭이가 날아다니고 ㅋㅋ

 

몇 가지 인상깊었던 동물만 소개하자면!

 

 백호.

호랑이 답게 얘네들 집은 정말 크구 아늑해요 ㅋㅋ

그냥 초원의 한 부분에서 살아요 ㅋ

 

 

얘는.. 정말 큰 웃음을 줬던 '세상을 달관한 원숭이' ㅋㅋ

원숭이들이 거의 한 백마리쯤 모여사는 곳이었는데,

하는 짓들이 정말 사람같고 너무 신기하더라구요 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

그 앞에서만 한참 구경했어요 ㅋㅋ

 

 

완전 우아한 플라밍고♥

어렸을때 얘네들 괜히 좋아해서

발표 주제로 삼고 그랬었는데 ㅋㅋ

 

 

마지막으로 얘는 제가 태어나서 처음 본 동물이예요.

정말 신기하게 몸통 색이 딱 반으로 갈라져서 약간 회색기도는 까망과 흰색!ㅋ

이렇게 된 사연이 쓰여져 있던데ㅋㅋ

 

뭐, 원래는 포악한 육식동물이었는데 복수를 하고자한 조그만 동물들이 얘가 자는 틈을 타서 이빨을 다 뽑고 몸에 저렇게 페인트 칠을 해버려서 그 이후로는 완젼 부끄럼쟁이 초식동물이 되었다...그런 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

 

이름이 기억이 안나요 그런데 ㅠ-ㅠ

아시는 분 알려주세요 ㅋㅋㅋ

 

그리고 나이트 사파리는요,

한마디로 말해서 동물원보다 더 "자연"적이예요.ㅋㅋ

깜깜한 밤에 자연속에서 그냥 동물들이랑 같이 있는거죠 ㅋㅋㅋ

너무 깜깜해서 사진을 못찍었어요.

플래시는 절대 터뜨릴 수 없거든요. ㅋ

 

트램타고 도는 구간도 있지만,

걸어다니는 구간도 있어요 +_+

박쥐가 막 날아다니는 박쥐동굴도 있구요.ㅋㅋ

(무해한 박쥐도 있나봐요 ㅋ)

 

완젼 무서워서 몇 번이나 꺅꺅 소리를 지르며 거의 경보를 하고 다녔다는 ㅋㅋㅋ

사진으로 그 느낌을 못 전해서 정말 안타깝지만;;

[백남준 46년전 첫 전시의 재현전] Paik Nam-june's debut in focus again

One of the most notable events in modern art happened at Parnass Gallery in Wuppertal, Germany in March, 1964. A cow's head dangled from the ceiling at the entrance and visitors had to crawl under a giant balloon to enter the exhibition room. Inside, among all sorts of junk, including broken pianos, a wrecked sewing machine, old cans and keys, thirteen televisions stood there buzzing. The scene on the screen changed following the visitors' actions. It was the first solo exhibition of video artist Paik Nam-june, named "EXPosition of Music - ELectronic Television." This sensational show not only changed Paik's life, but also introduced brand new material into modern art - electric media.

   Forty-six years later, Nam June Paik Art Center in Yongin city is shedding new light  on Paik's first exhibition through the exhibition "The EXPosition of Mythology - ELectric Technology."

It is not the first attempt to do this. The Vienna Contemporary Art Museum in Austria has already hosted an exhibition to commemorate Paik's first exhibition in March.

After seeing the show and realizing the importance of Paik's first exhibition, Lee Young-cheol, director of Nam June Paik Art Center, decided to hold another reinterpreted version of the exhibition - which will hopefully be even better - in Paik's home country.

Lee made extensive research and gathered some artists who were ready to play with, reinterpret and parody Paik's ideas.

He made the exhibition title in the same style as that of Paik's first exhibition so that it could be abbreviated to "EXPEL." Paik intended to expel all typical barriers and divisions in art and philosophy, explained Lee.

"Paik was more than just a video artist. This exhibition should be the introduction to start some major research about him. I hope it can be the opportunity to show Paik's importance in the world's art history."

More than thirty pieces by 21 Korean and international contemporary artists are on display at the exhibition. The work either shows homage or some sort of connection to Paik's work.

Jimmie Durham is into smashing things, a common theme of Paik's performances. In Durham's video, the artist sits behind a desk as different people place objects in front of him, requesting him to smash them. Without hesitation he crushes the objects with rocks. Once they are completely destroyed, he hands a signed sheet which confirms his finished action and greets his next visitor.

Tilo Baumgartel showcases a painting of a nurse feeding an ape in a well-furnished dining room. Like Paik, the artist refuses any kind of hierarchy or separation.

Hong Chul-ki installed his work in the center's restrooms as Paik did at his first exhibition. Hong's work makes noises whenever the visitors turn on the water or open the restroom's door.

Some original work by Paik can also be found at the exhibition, including "Zen for TV," and "Tiger Lives."

[싱가폴 여행기]리틀인디아 & 차이나타운

 

몬가 인디아스러운 이 곳은 인디아 타운!!

(ㅋㅋ사실 인도를 못가봐서 확실히는 모르겠어요;;ㅋㅋ 인도 엄청 가보고 싶은데ㅠ)

 

 

인도스러운 가게에서 어떤 관광객이 헤나를 하고 있더라구요.

저도 해보고 싶었으나 시간 관계상 못하고,

 

 

요런 빈디나 구경했답니다 ㅋㅋㅋ

어렸을때 귀에 붙이는 스티커 귀걸이 사서 했듯이,

요렇게 스티커로 빈디를 붙이기도 하나봐요 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

아기들 껀가?! ㅋㅋㅋ 귀여워라♥

 

 

역시 리틀인디아에 걸맞는 요가샵 ㅋㅋㅋ

어쩌면 인도=요가라는 저의 선입견이 작용해서 이런 샵이 눈에 띄었을지도 ㅋㅋ

 

 

이번엔 차이나스러운 이곳, 차이나타운입니다. ㅋ

 

근데 사실 여기는 좀 실망을 했어요;

특별히 엄청 중국인들이 많은 것 같지도 않고 그냥 너무 관광단지화 된 것 같아서.

중국문화를 찾아보기도 힘들었구요,

(하긴 싱가폴에서 중국스러운 걸 찾는다는 것 자체가 좀 말이 안되는 것 같긴 하지만요;)

 

그냥 약간 남대문 시장같은 분위기?!

나무도 별로 없고 아스팔트에 해가 반사되서 더욱더욱 엄청나게 더웠답니다ㅠ

 

 

흠...

어쩌면 이 가방을 보고 더 실망을 했던 걸지도 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

역시 요즘엔 어딜가나 한글이 대세!ㅋㅋ

[싱가폴 여행기] 보타닉 가든

 

열대림이 우거진 이곳은, 싱가폴 서부의 보타닉 가든 (Botanic Garden)입니다 ^-^

나무가 많고 울창해서 생각처럼 엄청 덥진 않았어요.

오전에 가서 좀 나았을 수도 있구요 ㅎㅎ

 

 

완전 자연스럽게 밀림처럼 되어있는게 더 좋은데,

군데군데는 이렇게 다듬어진 티가 나서 조금 아쉽기도;

 

 

역시 묘미는 처음보는 신기한 열대 식물들!!

 

 

더울수록 잎도 크고 화려하다더니,

정말 그렇더라구요 ㅋㅋㅋ

꼭 누가 만들어 놓은 것 같았던 이상한 아이♥

 

 

얘도 꽤 커다랬구요,

무엇보다 진짜 왕 큰 야자수 잎들이 제일 신기했는데

너무 높이있어서 사진을 못 찍었네요 ㅠ-ㅠ

 

 

여기는 혼자 돌아다녀서,

찍어주는 사람이 없어서 쫌 슬펐어요 ㅠ-ㅠ 흑;

 

계속 찍어달라고 하기도 그래서 셀카로 ㅋㅋㅋ

얼굴과 배경을 모두 담는데까지 엄청난 시행착오를 했습니다ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

 

사람들 지나가는데 혼자 계속 저러고 있기 민망해서

나중엔 그냥 찍어달라고 할껄 하고 후회도 했지만;;

오기가 생겨서... 끝내 해냈습니다!!ㅋㅋㅋ기특ㅋㅋㅋ

 

[YBA 이후의 영국현대미술 전망은?] Who will lead British art after YBAs?

For many, the Young British Artists would be the first thing that comes to mind at the mention of British art.

Ever since their debut through the legendary exhibition "Freeze" in 1988, the YBAs, led by Damien Hurst, have not only achieved stardom but have greatly influenced the world's contemporary art market.

But the YBAs are no longer "young" and market insiders are anxious to find out who will take up the baton and continue the success of British art.

Far from England, Total Museum of Contemporary Art in Pyeongchang-dong suggests some answers, by introducing some British artists who have entered their heydays and are often referred to as the next YBAs.

The exhibition "London Calling: Who Gets to Run the World" features various paintings, installations, sculptures and video works of eight artists including Phillip Allen, Fiona Banner, David Batchelor, Dryden Goodwin, Peter McDonald, Nathaniel Rackowe, Gary Webb and Martin Creed.

Exhibition curators Yu Eun-bok and Lim Jeong-ae, who usually introduced Korean contemporary art to Britain, went for the opposite work for a change: introducing British work here. Based upon their many years of experiences in London, Yu and Lim have brought some "real British works" to Seoul.

"It is true that Britains diversified cultural background has helped create today's British art, which is so globally recognized. Because of that, people tend to call any artist who currently works in Britain a 'British artist,' regardless of their nationality," the curators said.

"For this exhibition, however, we've selected the artists who were actually born and raised in Britain and are currently working in London. Examining how they react to the international environment and connect it to their work is the key to understand today's British art."

Among the artists, Peter MacDonald seems to have been inspired from the September 11th attack in New York. He depicted the day's influences on British society through his work "Suspects."

Small and fragile people nervously walk past armed guards. The guards, who are highlighted at the front, look strong and cold-hearted. Simple lines and cartoon-like figures somehow add to the insecure atmosphere.

While McDonald focuses on worldwide issues, some artists, like David Batchelor, are more interested in expressing the city of London itself.

Batchelor collected plastic bottles from London streets, painted them in vivid colors and tied them together to make a chandelier.

Dryden Goodwin emphasized the "contemporary" in art by using one of the most contemporary items -- an ipod.

Through his work "Searching Damien" comprised of 338 small drawings different faces and one ipod, which plays the video recording of how each one was drawn, Goodwin tried to explain the procedure of drawing, or as in his words -- searching for, a person's face.

[싱가폴 여행기] 신기한 과일들 ♥

 

높이 높이 솟은 야자나무에 달려있던 이름 모를 과일♥

닿을 수 없으니까 역시나 은근 더 맛있어 보이더라는 ^.^

 

그리고 저런 야자수에서 똑! 떨어진 것 같은 과일들을 먹었습니다 ㅋ

신기한건,

저 왼쪽에 보이는 껍질에 그려진 꽃잎의 수와 안에 들어있는 과일 쪽수가 일치한다는 것!

귤보다 덜 시고 좀 더 달달한 느낌?!

 

무엇보다 크니까, (두 주먹 합친 것 보다 더 큼!)

오히려 하나 까면 다 못먹어서 냉장보관해야 한다는 ㅋㅋㅋ

비눗물 같을 거라는 의견과는 달리,

아주 달고 맛있었어요 ^.^

 

흠이라면, 다 마신 뒤의 껍질 처리?!

분명 텅텅 비었는데 아직도 무겁고 커다란 코코넛을;

어디다 버려야 할지 모르고 거의 종일 차에 싣고 다녔답니다 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

 

 

[싱가폴 여행기] 신기했던 점 하나_운전석은 오른쪽에ㅋ

 

제가 지금 운전을 하는 걸까요?!ㅋ

 

 

아니죠 그냥 조수석에 앉아있는거죠 ㅋㅋㅋ

쨔잔! ㅋㅋㅋ

 

 

촌스럽다고 생각하실지도 모르겠으나,

운전석이 왼쪽이 아닌 오른쪽에 있는게 새삼 또 낯설었답니다.

 

운전석이 오른쪽에 있는 몇 몇 다른 나라들도 가보았지만,

이렇게 자가용을 타본 건 처음이라 ㅋㅋ

(택시를 타도 대부분 뒷자리에 타잖아요 ㅋ)

 

게다가 한국에서도 운전을 안하는 (아니 못하는 ㅠ-ㅠ) 사람이기 때문에

저 자리에 앉아있다는 사실이 어찌나 신기하던지♥

ㅋㅋㅋ 부끄럽다 ㅋㅋㅋ

이런 종이를 대량 구매해놓은 다음에,

필요한 날짜와 시간을 뚫어서

앞 유리 아래에 넣어놓으면 된답니다.

 

사복입은 경찰(?) 들이 수시로 돌아다니면서 감시한다네요;;

 

 

현대와 도요타가 장악했던 싱가폴 거리ㅋ

 

형형색색의 택시와 트럭 뒤에 타고가던 무수한 노동자들만 없었더라면,

사실 여기가 어디인지 쉽게 느낌이 안왔을 거예요.

갈수록 나라들이 다 비슷해져가는 안타까운 느낌 +_+

'Lighting up' Seoul's air quality

Take a stroll through World Cup Park in Mapo-gu, western Seoul, and one will notice a weird-looking new structure near Pyounghwa Park.

An acrylic pavilion which resembles a stylish bus stop, or maybe a solar collector, has been there since last Monday.

Seeing it closely, viewers can notice that its top is shaped like the map of Seoul, and is placed in the exact directions. The 25 divided sections each sometimes flash brightly or grow dim.

Do you get what it is?

The bizarre structure is actually an interactive work called "Living Light," installed by the Seoul City Gallery Project, a public arts project run by the city. The installation detects and shows the real-time air pollution levels throughout the 25 "gu" or sections of Seoul.

If the air quality of a certain gu improves from the day before, LED lights on the section turns brighter, and if it becomes more polluted, the lights turn darker.

Visitors can walk through the 6 meters wide and 2.7 meters tall installation and check the air conditions of different places in Seoul.

The creators of this installation are Yang Su-in and David Benjamin who currently work as a team called "The Living" in New York, United States.

The team has made many experimental and chic installations related to environmental indexes such as "Living Glass," which automatically sucks in fresh air from the outside according to the carbon dioxide level in the room, or "River Glow," which checks the acidity-level of a river and displays it through red and green lights like a traffic signal.

Seoul citizens can easily interact with "Living Light." Send a text message with your zip code to 013-3366-3615 and it replies immediately, stating the change in the air pollution level of the area today compared to the previous month.

Another interesting part: No matter where the text sender is, the sender's gu on the installation glows when it receives the message.

To see the project, take the subway line 6 to the World Cup Station. Go out exit 1 and walk straight until you reach the Mapo agricultural and marine products market. "Living Light" stands at the entrance of the Pyounghwa Park.

생각보다 허술한 공항 플루 검역!

싱가폴에 다녀왔어요*

대휴를 모아서 주말에 샤샤샥 ^-^

 

그런데 생각보다 인천공항도, 또 검역 철저하게 하기로 유명한 싱가폴 공항도 플루 검역을 대강하는 것 같아서 불안해져서 왔어요.

 

이제 좀 가라앉는 분위기라서 그런 걸 수도 있겠지만;

6단계로 올린다는 마당에...그래도 -_-

 

싱가폴은 자발적으로 검사를 맡겠다는 사람만 하라는 식으로

옆에 조그맣게 검사하는 곳을 만들어 놓았고,

인천공항은 그보다는 낫긴 했지만, 증상은 왜 써서 내라고 한건지...

두 가지 증상에 모두 체크했는데두 아무것도 묻지도 않고 쓱쓱 내보내더라구요.

(원래 두 가지 증상이 동시에 나오면 의심해봐야 한다고 하던데;;)

 

물론 저는 가기 전부터 목이 칼칼하고 감기기운이 있었어서 병원에 갔던 터라

플루와는 관계 없는 단순감기라는 판정(?) 을 받고 간 거였지만,

 

흠 열나는지만 감지하면 다 되는건가?!

아가들도 많이 탔는데...ㅠ-ㅠ

암튼 뭔가 좀 불안해졌다는ㅋ

[줄리안 슈나벨 전시] Schnabel talks about life through paintings this time

For some, Julian Schnabel may be best known as the director of the movies "Before Night Falls" or "The Diving Bell and The Butterfly."

The two films, nominated for and winning many top awards, including the Cannes Film Festival, the Golden Globes and Oscars, definitely placed Schnabel in the limelight.

The director, however, actually started out as a painter and now, at age 58, is one of the most influential artists of his generation.

"He will always answer that he is a painter first and foremost. He first started his career with paintings, and his films also come out of paintings," said Mary Dinaburg, curator of Fortune Cookie Projects, a group which introduces major works of the west and the east to each other.

"We even see that he revitalized the paintings with his plate paintings. Now everyone takes it for granted but it was him who allowed younger painters to do it," Dinaburg added.

With Fortune Cookie Projects as its associate, Watergate Gallery in Nonhyun-dong is hosting the exhibition "Julian Schnabel - Retrospective Print Exhibition" which looks back at Schnabel's artistic side during the last 25 years. This is Schnabel's first show in Korea.

The exhibition showcases the renowned American artist's 39 pieces of etching, acquaint, lithography and screen-painting.

He is well-known for his experimental use of various materials, including ones not usually considered material for art, Dinaburg said.

One such example is velvet.

"These are the last ones left in the world. This exhibition might be the last chance to see them before they are all sold out," Dinaburg said, pointing to Schnabel's "Landscape" hung on the wall.

Some assume from Schnabel's experimental but immaculate works that he must be fastidious and rather difficult to get along with. But Dinaburg said that he is the opposite.

"He is the easiest person I've worked with. He simply wants everything to be done well, that's all. If you know his art, you will know what I mean. His works are very humane, all about the basic essential values of life like love, birth, death and humanity," she said.
